What are My Options?

"I like to think of cosmetic treatments in three categories: Rejuvenation, Corrective, and Preventative."

Rejuvenation

As we mature, we lose volume in our faces. The reason why babies have such round, smooth faces is because of fat layers holding up their eyes and defining their cheek bones. The purpose of fillers is to add that volume back to your cheeks, temples, undereyes, lips and around the mouth. Fillers are mostly gels that last 6-18 months and can be dissolved if you do not like how they look. My goal is for you to recognize yourself when you leave my office.

To this end, I perform 95% percent of my filler injections with a cannula. It has become my gold standard for fillers. With cannulas, you have one small poke with a sharp needle, and I am able to inject the filler with a softer needle that significantly reduces the risk of bruising. Cannulas have revolutionized how I preform fillers.

Botox and Dysport

Botox and Dysport are also the toxin injections that I use to soften what I like to call expression lines. These are the lines that are around your eyes when you smile and in your forehead when you make a frown or raise your eyebrows. Botox and Dysport are both powders that are dissolved in water, unlike fillers that are mostly gels and work on the lines you have at rest. Toxins work on the lines you have when you make expressions. You have to be careful with toxins. If you put in too much you look surprised and have a shiny forehead. Your friends will be able to tell from across the room. I really try to encourage the idea that less is more. If you want more you can always come back for a complementary touch-up, but let’s try to get away with the least amount of injections possible. Toxins fade gradually over time and tend to last 2-6 months.

Preventative

The best prevention for skin cancer and wrinkles is sunscreen! But to maintain the most youthful and natural look to your skin, I recommend doing very minor procedures early–in your 30s and 40s. This helps to catch wrinkles before they set in. I like to use a combination of lasers, fillers and botox for the best preventative treatments. I also like to work with you to come up with the best serums, moisturizers and supplements for your skin. You can purchase in our office via Regimen Pro.

Preventative Services:

  • Restylane

Why Cosmetic AND General Dermatology?

My best cosmetic patients are the ones that I have known the longest and with whom I have developed a good relationship. I know their faces, we know one another, and trust has been built. Although I see patients for just cosmetic procedures, I find that the best outcomes and the longest relationships happen when I treat your entire skin. I don't want to just see you for your skin check and then you go elsewhere for your Botox. I would like to do your Botox AND make sure that you are using the right products to maintain the work we have done and to ensure that skin cancer isn't missed. I have been trained to do both, and I regularly attend conferences, teach, and educate myself to stay up on what is best for you.

Some of my cosmetic patients really need to see a plastic surgeon. For example, if I think that you would be best served by a facelift or actually having your eyes lifted surgically as opposed to filler, I will be honest and tell you that. I cannot be the best at everything and I know that. I work closely with the best plastic surgeons.

How Much Downtime Will My Cosmetic Procedure Require?

Because we use one of the smallest micro needles on the market to inject Botox/Dysport, your procedure should be relatively painless and without bruising. You won't have to take time off from work with most fillers either, because of our cannulas, numbing cream, arnica, and ice! For chemical peels, it depends on the depth of the peel if you will have to take any time off from work. Lasers generally do require some downtime. Kybella will have some swelling and bruising.

Acne Scar Correction

Please discuss with us what type of scaring you have to review the best treatments. Some scarring will require chemical peels, while others will require lasers or injections. The key is to try to correct scars before they start and treat them early when you notice them.

Fillers

Fillers come in many different brand names and formulations. They are used to add volume to the face to give it a more youthful and refreshed appearance. With the cannula technique, bruising is almost non-existent

Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Jeuveau

Botox and Dysport are also the toxin injections that I use to soften what I like to call expression lines. They are a powder that is dissolved in water unlike fillers that are mostly gels and work on the lines you have at rest.

Anti-aging Treatment

We want you to look like yourself, just more rested. We will review your goals and come up with a plan.

Lasers

There are a variety of lasers that we use. Some target redness and others target wrinkles and scars. We will review what bothers you most to come up with a plan.

Chemical Peels

We offer superficial and medium depth chemical peels in our office to help with pigmentation, acne and skin texture. Depending on your goals and expectations, we can review what will be best for you.

Kybella

Kybella is an injection targeted towards that fat under your chin. The advantage to Kybella is that no stitches are required. Kybella is a great non-surgical option to tighten skin under your neck.

Hair Loss

We have most patients answer a hair loss questionnaire to determine the main causes of hair loss. I use the Regen Lab PRP kit for hair loss and skin rejuvenation and will soon start using the CosmoFrance PRF treatment in place of and in addition to fillers.

Keloid Scars

Keloids are a type of scar that is raised and much larger than the original injury. Sometimes you can have keloids from acne or after surgery. The most common cause of keloids is your genetics--they tend to run in families. There are several treatments for keloids and we work with radiation oncologists for cases that are appropriate.

Bellafill

Talk to Dr. Lamb about scar treatment.

Bellafill is a perfect option to almost permanently fix your acne scars.
